Founded in 2009 and led by award-winning producers David Maher and David Taylor, Playmaker is an Australian television production company specialising in high quality authored and award-winning drama.  

Playmaker recently produced a second season of Logie winning drama series Bloom for Stan. Starring Academy Award Nominee Jacki Weaver, AACTA Award Winner Bryan Brown, Phoebe Tonkin, Jacqueline McKenzie, Lucy Barrett, Bella Heathcote and Ed Oxenbould, the new season premiered on Stan at Easter this year; while the eight part thriller The Commons, also for Stan, premiered on Christmas Day 2019.

Created by Shelley Birse, with Graham Yost as EP, The Commons stars Golden Globe Winner and three-time Emmy Nominee, Joanne Froggatt (Liar, Downton Abbey), David Lyons (Seven Seconds, Safe Haven), Ryan Corr (Bloom) and Rupert Penry-Jones (The Strain, Silk) with Damon Herriman (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Judy and Punch) in a supporting role. 

Some other recent series include Reckoning (Sony Pictures Television Networks) starring Aden Young and Sam Trammell. Playmaker also produced two seasons of The Wrong Girl (10 Network); four seasons of Love Child (NINE Network); five seasons of Logie wining drama series House Husbands (NINE Network), two series of the AACTA Awarded for Best Drama Series The Code (ABC) starring Ashley Zuckerman and Golden Globe winner Anthony LaPaglia; Emmy Nominated SLiDE (Foxtel) as well as the recent mini-series Friday On My Mind (ABC) and the Mandarin-language version of the thriller series Chosen, made in Australia for China’s largest streaming service iQiyi.
